A screenshot shared online in late May 2025 authentically showed a Truth Social post by U.S. President Donald Trump wishing a happy Memorial Day to "the scum that spent the last four years trying to destroy our country."

The president was active online to begin Memorial Day, a holiday meant to honor soldiers who have died while serving their country.

Donald Trump once again celebrated a holiday by lashing out, this time in an attack on the “scum” who are “trying to destroy our country” and “USA hating judges” who have blocked his deportation executive orders.

“Donald Trump is a deranged lunatic who wouldn’t be allowed to manage a Wendy’s,” The Bulwark.com’s Sarah Longwell wrote on X. “But I guess we all have to pretend like this is normal and not 25th amendment behavior. People who treat this as acceptable are the insane ones.”

Trump said he thought of "all the attacks we'd already suffered as a family … all the sacrifices we'd have to make to help my father succeed."
