President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto on Friday agreed to continue strengthening the alliance between the Philippines and Indonesia, reaffirming their commitment to support each other and collaborate closely.

As the curtains close on his presidency, Joko Widodo’s meddlesome efforts to secure the Widodo political dynasty face mounting challenges from an emboldened Prabowo Subianto.

Indonesian President-elect Prawobo Subianto on Friday vowed to always support and work with the Philippines in all fields as part of efforts to strengthen the close ties between the two nations. This was after he paid a courtesy call on President Marcos in Malacañang on Friday afternoon as part of the “Asian custom” to call on one’s friends before taking on a new post.

President Marcos is looking forward to “stronger and deeper” relations with Indonesia under President-elect Prabowo Subianto, who paid him a courtesy visit at Malacañang yesterday. Prabowo’s visit to the Philippines came ahead of his inauguration as Indonesia’s eighth president next month.
