The Dallas Mavericks played their first game of the 2024 NBA Cup on Tuesday night against the Golden State Warriors, but the biggest storyline was Klay Thompson's return to San Francisco to play against the team he was with for 13 years. He won four championships while making five All-Star Games as a key cog in their dynasty run from 2015-2022.

The 4-time NBA champion returned to San Francisco and was showered with praise in the first game against his former team.

Stephen Curry drove past Luka Doncic for a go-ahead layup with 1:50 left before Donic missed a 13-footer in the key and Curry connected for a 3-pointer moments later, scoring 37 points as the Golden State Warriors beat the Dallas Mavericks 120-117.
