A stirring farewell to a Chicago Sports icon, as mourners paid tribute to the late Ryne Sandberg, who was remembered at a private memorial service Friday. Fans of the Cub legend, who lost his battle to prostate cancer last month,

Family, friends and former players were among those in attendance, including Cubs Legend Kerry Wood, White Sox Hall of Famer Frank Thomas and Cubs Chairman Tom Ricketts. The funeral service was also being shown on the big screen at Gallagher Way, so fans could watch.

Sandberg, who played 15 seasons with the Chicago Cubs, died July 28 at age 65 after battling metastatic prostate cancer.
