In a meeting with employees, Google CEO Sundar Pichai set the stage for 2025, and the expected increase in competition, regulatory hurdles and AI advancements.

Pichai is said to have stressed that the Gemini app should be scaled on the consumer side to reach 500 million users in 2025.

“With the Gemini app, there is strong momentum, particularly over the last few months. But we have some work to do in 2025 to close the gap and establish a leadership position there as well,” said Pichai adding that “scaling Gemini on the consumer side will be our biggest focus next year.”

Google’s blowout earnings report in April, which sparked the biggest rally in Alphabet shares since 2015 and pushed its market cap past $2 trillion for the first time, tempered fear that the company was falling behind in artificial intelligence.
