A bill that would ban cell phone usage in Oregon schools died after it failed to advance to the Senate Rules Committee. House Bill 2251 would effectively ban students from using personal electronic devices during school hours.

Lawmakers in the Senate Education Committee declined to advance a cell phone in schools bill, after months of back-and-forth over how prescriptive the state’s policy should be.
