The Huskies (23-12-4), in their first ever NCAA appearance, advanced with a win over Quinnipiac on Friday, but Penn State, the No. 4 seed in the regional, knocked off No.1 Maine and No. 2 UConn to reach St, Louis, site of the national semifinals in two weeks.

The Nittany Lions, which played just three hours from campus as regional host, went through a pair of Hockey East teams to make their first Frozen Four.

Penn State won a thriller 3-2 in overtime over UConn to advance to the Frozen Four for the first time in program history. Goals were tough to come by with Huskies goalie Callum Tung stopping 38 of 41 shots while Arsenii Sergeev turned aside 42 of 44 shots.
