Mainly sunny skies are back for Thursday with a brisk wind through the afternoon and below average temps.
Today, the eastern plains will see sustained westward winds blowing between thirty and forty miles per hour and gusts of upwards of 65 miles per hour, according to local forecasts. The high winds will likely last from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and be strongest in areas further east, including Limon, Fort Morgan and Sterling.
NWS Boulder said temperatures at Denver International Airport hit 68 degrees just before 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The normal temperature for Feb. 15 is 45 degrees, and the previous heat record was 67 degrees in 2017.
It's a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day with high winds and fire danger for the eastern half of the state with winter weather on the western side of the state.
