The Despicable Me franchise centers on Gru, a super-villain (who later becomes a dad and superhero); his yellow-coloured Minions; and his three orphan girls, Margo, Edith and Agnes.

Shortly after the release of Despicable Me 4, Universal and Illumination announced Minions 3 is in the works. The film is set to be released in cinemas in summer 2026.

Despicable Me 4 is directed by Chris Renaud. The film opens in theaters July 3. Illumination previously released a Super Bowl teaser in February that shows the minions create AI art.
