The PlayStation 5 Pro is already an incredibly powerful console, but players can expect it to get a major graphical boost in 2026.

The PS5 Pro could be getting similar tech to AMD’s new version of FSR next year. AMD released the next generation of their graphics cards, the Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT, last week. They’re built around their new RDNA 4 architecture, which includes hardware support for a new version of FidelityFX Super Resolution, called FSR 4.

Speaking to Digital Foundry, Cerny was full of praise for AMD's FSR 4 release, saying that the upscaler surpasses the work Sony has done with its PS5 Pro-exclusive solution, PSSR. "And results are excellent, it's a more advanced approach that can exceed the crispness of PSSR," Cerny explained. "I'm very proud of the work of the joint team!"

Sony’s PS5 Pro console arrived in Australia last year and is currently ranged at retailers such as JB Hi-Fi for $1,199. Significantly more expensive than its predecessor, games on the console are set to receive a major graphics upgrade next year.
