After days of city officials clashing over transparency, Delray Beach released several new details Thursday evening about the Dec. 28 crash between a fire rescue ladder truck and a Brightline

Video shows the moment a Florida driver was hit by a Brightline train. Officials said the crash happened as the driver ran through a railroad crossing while the arms were down. The train slammed into the back half of the vehicle as the driver tried to speed past. Officials said one person was hurt in the crash.

Authorities have identified the driver of the Delray Beach fire truck and Brightline train engineer involved in the crash on Dec. 28. Driver Engineer David Wyatt, already identified by Delray Beach Fire Rescue as one of four employees under investigation related to the crash,

On Dec. 28, a Delray Beach Fire Rescue ladder truck collided with a Brightline train in Palm Beach County, resulting in 15 people injured. On Dec. 30, a woman was struck and killed by a train in Miami. This report may be updated as more details become available.

David Wyatt had his license suspended in October of 2023 after failing to complete driving school. Wyatt had been ordered to attend the school after driving onto a median along Atlantic Avenue and hitting a tree in June of that year.
