The 37-year-old man convicted of murdering his wife’s 47-year-old ex-lover, Jon Tokuhara, will not be sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

Thompson was accused of shooting acupuncturist Jon Tokuhara in 2022 at his Waipahu clinic. On January 12, 2022, Tokuhara’s mother found his body shot to death. Approximately six months prior to Tokuhara’s murder, Thompson learned that his wife

Thompson’s first trial in 2023 ended in a mistrial when the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict. This time around, the jury found Thompson guilty of murder in the second degree. He was also found guilty of a firearm charge. Shortly after the verdict was read, the state’s motion to revoke bail was granted and Thompson was taken into custody.
