A couple with roots in North Texas lost everything when their home in California was caught in the crosshairs of the deadly wildfires in the southern part of the state.

The fires haven't destroyed only mansions. Also destroyed are neighborhoods of racial and economic diversity, and residents there may not have the means to bounce back.

NORTH TEXAS – Snow continues to fall across North Texas after a winter storm warning was dropped early Friday morning. Several inches of a wintry mix of sleet and snow were forecast to fall over North Texas between Thursday and Friday. This marks the first winter storm of the season.

Roads leading to and around the site of the College Football Playoff semifinal in the Cotton Bowl were clear and mostly dry before Friday night's game between Texas and Ohio State. There had been concerns leading up to the game about the potential for transportation issues around AT&T Stadium after a winter storm moved through the area Thursday with a mix of sleet and snow.

After embarrassing Tennessee and Oregon, Ohio State found itself in a dogfight with Texas in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl. A game the Buckeyes would ultimately win with late heroics. It will undoubtedly go down as one of the greatest games ever played in Ohio State football history.

There is a First Alert Weather Morning in place for icing on roadways, making for dangerous travel. The weather alert is for both freezing fog and refreezing on roads as temperatures dropped into the low 20s Friday night.
