Progresso announced Thursday it is introducing Progresso Soup Drops, which is a chicken noodle soup-flavored hard candy.

Progresso is celebrating National Soup Month by reimagining a classic comfort food — as a hard candy called Soup Drops.

Each order of 20 drops comes in a container resembling Progresso’s actual soup cans and is accompanied by a can of actual Progresso Traditional Chicken Noodle Soup. The cost of both is $2.49, plus 99 cents shipping.

It’s Progresso Chicken Noodle Soup like you never expected — a convenient, on-the-go soup experience available this National Soup Month.

"For decades, Progresso Soup has brought you cozy comfort on chilly days or when you're under the weather," said MC Comings, VP, Business Unit Director for Progresso at General Mills. "When you're sick, nothing is truly more reassuring than Chicken Noodle Soup. So, we thought, why stop at the soup bowl?"

General Mills on Thursday unveiled Progresso Soup Drops, a limited-edition savory cough drop that tastes like Progresso's chicken soup. It immediately sold out — but the company's making more.

Each Soup Drop is individually wrapped and comes packaged in a can resembling the blue Progresso Soup can. The drops are a convenient solution, makers say, for enjoying the cozy taste of soup whether you’re running errands, sitting at the doctor’s office, or simply hiding under the covers.

Progresso's Soup Drops are available online every Thursday, at 9 a.m. ET, until the end of January, which also happens to be National Soup Month.
