A Town of Maine man was convicted in Broome County Court on Wednesday of fleeing the scene after killing a man as well as attempting to have sex with a minor.

NANTICOKE, N.Y. (WBNG) -- The New York State Police at Deposit responded to a fatal crash at the 4100 block of State Route 26. Troopers, Maine Ambulance and Glen Aubrey Fire Department were dispatched by the Broome County 911 Center and found that a Ford pick-up had crashed and the driver was pinned underneath the tire.

In September 2024 in Dickinson, the defendant struck and killed Jamal Smalls of Binghamton and fled the scene of the crash.

A Binghamton man has been sentenced to eight years in New York State Prison for drug and gun charges, District Attorney Paul Battisti announced Wednesday.

For the first time in nearly eight decades, the company that grew into Dick's Sporting Goods has no store in its birthplace of Binghamton, New York.
