Voters in southeast Washington, D.C., will fill a vacant city council seat Tuesday in a special election to replace former Councilmember Trayon White, who was expelled from office in February following his 2024 arrest in a federal corruption probe.
Seven candidates were running in a special election for Ward 8 of the Washington, D.C. City Council on July 15 but only four received significant media coverage and will be on the ballot: Salim Adofo , Mike Austin , Sheila Bunn and Trayon White.
Early voting began in the special election for the Ward 8 D.C. Council seat, which became vacant in February after the council expelled Trayon White amid a federal corruption probe.
