Apple has finally redesigned the MacBook Air, giving it a completely new chassis with a new display and processor. It’s an incredible machine but comes at a higher cost than the previous M1 Air.

The M2 MacBook Air remains in the lineup with a price cut – $999 for the base model. Standard models for the MacBook Air are 256GB SSD/8GB memory and 512GB SSD/8GB memory, and 512GB SSD/16GB memory.

Compared to the last-gen M1 MacBook Air, the M2 model has a few changes. Like all Air designs, this one is fanless with a focus on portability (it’s only 0.44 inch thick and 2.7 pounds).

The MacBook Air M2 starts at $1,099, which is $100 more than the MacBook Air M1. The starting configuration gives you an 8-core CPU, 10-Core GPU, 8GB of unified memory and 512GB of storage.

Further, since the starting price of the 13-inch MacBook Air with M4 is $999 in the United States, Apple is taking the 13-inch MacBook Air with M2 off its virtual and physical store shelves.

This past July, we got the sequel, with Apple releasing an M2-based MacBook Air for a starting price of $1,199. That’s $200 more than the M1-based Air, which raises some interesting questions.
