A Maine State Police bomb team determined a box that had been donated contained a spent training grenade and fuses for artillery shells.

AUGUSTA — Goodwill’s Augusta store was evacuated Tuesday after a box containing what police described as “possible military grenades and/or mortars” was discovered among donated items. Augusta police and Maine State Police Bomb Team responded and the bomb team immediately secured the items, according to a release from the Augusta Police Department.

Goodwill says the store in Augusta has since been given the all clear to reopen after the Maine State Police Bomb Squad assessed the situation.
