One of the victims of the American Airlines crash has been identified as a Connecticut youth soccer coach and father of three by state officials.

State Sen. Martha Marx said Casey Crafton, a husband and father of three sons from Salem, Conn., was one of the passengers on the American Airlines flight Wednesday.

Connecticut officials expressed sorrow Thursday after a plane vs. helicopter crash in Washington D.C. that is believed to have left dozens of people dead.

A Connecticut father was among the people who died in the American Airlines crash in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday night, according to State Sen. Martha Marx. The victim was named Casey Crafton, a husband and father of three sons from Salem.

As of Thursday night, 13 victims of the Reagan National plane crash have been identified. Two of those people include Justyna Magdalena Beyer and her 12-year-old daughter Brielle, who have ties to Connecticut.

"You have those feelings of dread when something like this happens," said Max Schmitter, who spent 32 years at the FAA as an aviation safety inspector.
