This just in, the Washington Capitals are bringing back 'The Screaming Eagle'. The team's vintage black, blue and gold jerseys complete with eagle logo are making a comeback in 2024-25 and the team used captain Alex Ovechkin to help them make the announcement.

Ovechkin scored in each game the jersey was worn back in 2022-23. “It’s back, babes,” captain Alex Ovechkin announced proudly on Tuesday, holding up the Washington Capitals’ black Screamin’ Eagle jersey that they will wear for the upcoming season.

The jersey is similar to the NHL Reverse Retro jerseys Washington wore during the 2022-23 season and reminiscent of a sweater design the team introduced in 1995. It features a blue, black, and bronze color scheme, with the United States Capitol Building displayed on the shoulder. “Thank you for surprise,” Ovechkin said, laughing.

As someone born in the DMV, I couldn’t be happier! The 2024-25 season will be the 50th anniversary for the Washington Capitals, and to commemorate the special campaign, the team will be sporting the iconic black screaming eagle jersey for six home games at Capital One Arena.
