A tropical disturbance that made its way from Florida is now over the northern Gulf and is expected to bring heavy rain and flash flooding to the region on Thursday and Friday.

The good news is a marked decrease in intensity of the thunderstorms in the past two hours. As of 7:30 p.m. there is only one isolated severe thunderstorm warning in effect over the entire Great Lakes region. The National Weather Service has watched this decline and cancelled the severe thunderstorm watch in effect for this evening.
In one worst-case scenario, New Orleans could receive up to 10 inches of rain by the end of the weekend. A tropical disturbance and the heavy rain moving along with it will bring a risk of flash flooding to Florida and the central Gulf Coast in the coming days, particularly in southern Louisiana, including New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

SEOUL (Reuters) - Two people died and more than 1,000 have been evacuated in South Korea after the country was lashed by torrential rain on Thursday, the safety ministry said.
As of 7 a.m. Thursday, the system was at the far northern portion of the Gulf, just south of the Mississippi Coast, and is expected to move west, according to the National Hurricane Center. The storm remains very disorganized with a lower chance of formation.
Thunderstorms and heavy downpours are set to hit the UK amid a spell of humid weather. Yellow warnings for storms have been issued across much of England on Friday and into the weekend, with the risk of sudden flooding and lightning strikes causing transport delays and power cuts.
Heavy downpours could be seen across several parts of Western Pennsylvania on Wednesday, but now we'll get a break from the storms.
