A cargo container and makeshift office for centuries-old whiskey maker Buffalo Trace slid into the Kentucky River on Monday in the wake of heavy rains and flooding, officials said.

A mudslide at a distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, on Monday morning, led to an entire office floating in the river. Our sister station WLKY's NewsChopper flew over the scene where a large chunk of land was missing after it fell into the Kentucky River.

Footage shot by Louisville TV station WLKY showed the bank of the river eroded and collapsing under the pavement next to the Dry House where the distillery treats stillage or spent grains, which are left over after the fermentation and distilling process.

Officials report that a cargo container and a temporary office fell into the Kentucky River early Monday morning at Buffalo Trace Distillery due to a mudslide.

According to a statement, the weather-related mudslide happened on the northeast side of the distillery along the Kentucky River. We’re told crews are still assessing the situation, but they know the mudslide resulted in one cargo container and one temporary office falling into the river.
