SHIV KUMAR Gautam, shooter in the Baba Siddique murder case, told police that he was motivated to gun down Siddique by wanted accused Shubham Lonkar who convinced him that he was carrying out a ‘patriotic and religious act’ in addition to being promised money and a trip abroad.

In a statement to the police, 23-year-old Shivkumar Gautam, also known as Shiva, explained the sequence of events that unfolded after he shot Siddique.

Baba Siddique, 66, was shot dead in Mumbai's Bandra on October 12 at 9:11 pm, the police said. He sustained two bullet injuries on his chest and was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital, where he passed away.
