The product resembles cough drops, and unites two flu-time classics – a warm broth and hard candy – into “soup you can suck on” for the height of cold season, parent company General Mills said in a statement on launch day.

On January 16, Progresso announced a new product just in time for National Soup Month—soup drops. Seemingly a play on “cough drops,” they are essentially individually wrapped candies that taste like soup rather than anything sweet.
Suckable chicken noodle soup-flavoured cough drops are a thing now
The company says the chicken noodle soup-flavoured drops taste like broth, savoury veggies, soft egg noodles and a sprinkle of parsley. Each $2.49 can comes with 20 lozenges. The main ingredient in the lozenges is isomalt, a sugar substitute often found in sugar-free treats, as well as chicken meat powder and chicken fat.
