Commercial drivers must know how to do a vehicle inspection in order to pass the test for their commercial drivers’ license. But don’t assume that means they’re doing it well or efficiently.

Over that 72-hour period, commercial motor vehicle inspectors in jurisdictions throughout North America will conduct inspections on commercial motor vehicles and drivers.

CVSA’s surprise brake safety inspection day facilitated 4,569 inspections focusing on brake compliance: 8.7% of inspected commercial vehicles had brake-related violations.

Inspectors in Canada, Mexico and the U.S. conducted 4,898 commercial motor vehicle inspections in a brake safety event April 30, putting 570 vehicles out of service for critical violations.
