The U.S. Air Force on Wednesday announced its notice of intent to award a contract for its nuclear microreactor program to Eielson Air Force Base to California-based Oklo Inc.

This is the second crash at Eielson this year. Six months ago, a U.S. Air Force F-35A Lightning II fighter jet crashed after the pilot, who ejected and parachuted to safety, reported a malfunction.

An incident involving a jet from the Republic of Korea was reported on Eielson Air Force Base Tuesday. According to a news release, the incident occurred during takeoff around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
