The young figure skaters whose lives were cut tragically short Wednesday night when an American Airlines flight collided with an Army helicopter and crashed into the Potomac River were just beginning their journeys to stardom.

Nancy Kerrigan was one of several U.S. Olympic skating legends who gathered at the Skating Club of Boston Thursday to grieve its six members who died in the Washington, D.C., air disaster.

The tragic plane crash in Washington, D.C., on January 29, 2025, claimed the lives of 14 members of the U.S. figure skating community, including young athletes, their mothers, and renowned coaches.
