The snakes came to light after the inland taipan bit Leibowitz, a snake enthusiast, Sept. 5. The bite almost killed him. As of Sept. 16, Leibowitz was recovering, but he remained in the hospital.
Just hours before Jeffrey Liebowitz was bitten by one of the world’s deadliest snakes, he apparently was handling the reptile freely and posting advice on Facebook on how to keep it at bay.
A source told WPDE that the victim was bitten by an inland taipan snake and that local hospitals didn't have anti-venom. Medical officials had to get it from an out-of-state medical facility.
By 2 a.m., that same inland taipan snake sent him to the hospital. Police said Tuesday morning that he was still hospitalized in serious condition.
