Significant snowfall is rare in Middle Tennessee, but when it happens, the region is loaded with the natural terrain that draws sledding enthusiasts to multiple spots in Nashville and the surrounding areas.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for all of Middle Tennessee for Friday into Saturday as we expect inches of snow. Meteorologist Greg Bobos says the Winter Storm Watch goes into effect Friday morning through 6 a.m. Saturday for all Middle Tennessee counties in our viewing area.

As temperatures dip down below freezing this week, and with anticipated snow and ice in the area, multiple cities in Middle Tennessee have opened up warming or cold weather shelters for those in need.
