According to a post on X/Twitter shortly before 4 p.m. by MCAS Miramar, the brush fire had grown to about 12 acres. The fire was located on the airfield located south of the runways on base, it said.

Around 2:20 p.m. on Monday, a brush fire broke out at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, releasing smoke into the sky that was visible on neighboring highways and as far south as North Park.
