Qantas Airways Ltd. has been forced to delay some flights between Australia and South Africa in recent weeks following a warning from the US government about SpaceX rocket debris reentering the Earth’s atmosphere over the Southern Indian Ocean.

Qantas has been forced to delay flights between Australia and South Africa after the US government warned the airline about the risk of SpaceX rocket parts re-entering the atmosphere in the southern Indian Ocean.

Qantas said that generally speaking, customers understand the nature of the delays on the flight to Johannesburg.

Qantas flights between Australia and Africa are being repeatedly delayed by falling space rocket debris. Travellers have been delayed repeatedly in recent weeks, as debris from SpaceX craft falls back to Earth over the southern Indian Ocean.

Recent rocket launches have changed their timing at short notice, which in turn has forced Qantas to postpone flights right before departure.

Qantas is asking Elon Musk's SpaceX to be more precise with the areas and timings for rocket re-entries to prevent disruption.

Several Qantas Airline flights have been delayed over the last few weeks due to SpaceX rocket activity. Some flights between Johannesburg, South Africa, and Sydney, Australia, have been delayed as long as six hours after receiving a warning from the U.
