Dan McConchie has served as State Senator for the 26th District since 2016. He is the first paraplegic legislator in Illinois history. Prior to his election as Leader in 2022, Dan served as a Caucus budget negotiator, advocating for responsible state spending and lower taxes.

Jan 27, 2025 · Following a nearly nine-year public service commitment to the constituents of the 26 th Senate District of Illinois, State Senator Dan McConchie (R-Hawthorn Woods) announced his resignation from the Illinois State Senate, effective February 2, 2025.

Jun 6, 2024 · After almost six months of committee hearings, meeting with constituents and stakeholders, rigorous debate, and hours of floor action, the Illinois Senate passed a total of 465 bills this session. The Senate adjourned around 11:00 PM on Sunday, May 26 th after voting on the Fiscal Year 2025 budget and additional spending proposals.
