Sep 13, 2020 · Dale was a mark used by Hardinge Brothers in Chicago circa 1900-1910. Dale collets were made for any of the dozens of watch lathes on the market back then, including some that will not work in a WW lathe. Wolf Jahn was a German maker. Whitcomb was the mark used by AWT on the genuine original WW and Magnus collets.

But, it was also recommended that dropping power a bit to a 10x (2x by 5x or 1x by 10x) is a good thing to have because you may wish to have a bit less magnification from time to time.

Oct 10, 2023 · OK, I'll fire the first shot. My go to oil for movements with small pivots is Nye-140. For clocks with larger pivots, an American kitchen clock perhaps, it is Mobil One 0W-20 engine oil, but Nye 140 also works for this application. I only used 859 to reoil clocks that were originally oiled with this stuff. RC.

Nov 22, 2011 · For brands mentioned in range B South Bend's best 16 size watch was the Polaris and it was a 21j so they add nothing to the picture. For the same time frame Illinois would have had to produce 23,000 16s 23j and this is true for Hampden, I tend to think Hampden would have been the closest to 1000/yr or maybe a bit better but those are details.

Jan 12, 2021 · My highest quality 400 day clock is an Elgin/Haller GTB. Over ten years it has needed no repairs or maintenance, except for a precautionary oiling a long time ago. It is very easy and quick to wind with a crank rather than a key. The negator type mainspring needs no lubrication and has not and will never judder.
